Archaeology Quest Questions

Our sixth week of camp has been welcomed with a very warm, but fun, day! We have a full week of exploring ancient civilizations and getting to know archaeological methods. Here are some questions to ask your camper at the end of each day!

On Monday, we are learning about Mesopotamia. Ask me about...
  • The cylinder seals that we made!
  • The 3D Mesopotamia maps that we made, and what sorts of landmarks we included.
  • The Sumerian game we played, and what we learned about how people lived in Mesopotamia.
  • What I wrote in cuneiform.
On Tuesday, The Purple group and incoming 2nd graders from the Orange group will be visiting the Kelsey Museum, while Yellow group and incoming 3rd-5th graders in the Orange group will be staying at the Museum of Natural History to learn about Ancient China.

  • The archaeology dig we did, and what sorts of artifacts we found.
  • What we learned about myths and monsters.
For Yellow group and 3rd-5th graders in Orange group, ask me about...
  • The Marco Polo Silk Road game we played.

  • The terracotta soldiers we made, and how we sculpted them.
  • The Game of Nim that we played!
On Wednesday, we will learn about Ancient Rome. Ask me about...
  • The Ancient Roman ruins we saw on Google Earth.
  • What we learned about Roman columns and arches, and how we built each of them.

On Thursday, the Yellow group and incoming 3rd-5th graders in the Orange group will be visiting the Kelsey Museum, while the Purple group and incoming 2nd graders from the Orange group stay at the Museum of Natural History to learn about Ancient China.

  • What kinds of artifacts we thought we would find in Rick's backyard after hearing about his lifestyle.
  • What objects we found at the Snaketown archaeological site, and how we determined if they were ecofacts or artifacts.
